local making: final made outcome

the focus has been primarily on type design and printmaking throughout this project, as expressed through the initial research. through research, i have explored the fusion of digital and physical mediums for creative work. with this research, i contacted female and queer creatives. whether this was a conscious decision or not is still up for debate. however, looking at creatives who reflect me and my existence is vital to my creative practice. the importance of seeing oneself within the media we consume is critical for those within marginalised groups. this expands what exists within the sphere of possibility. my research also highlighted the value of resourcefulness within creative work. resourcefulness is a skill that both my family and I have strongly prioritised. throughout my creative work, i am to design works that create as little waste as possible and, if possible, repurpose 'waste' products—highlighted through my repurposing of textiles. this project reflects my education so far within a university setting. specifically, it is a reflection of printmaking techniques and my understanding of relations with the production and consumption of commodities. the work acts as a critique of our current making practices, seen explicitly through the chosen extracts from the communist manifesto alongside the specific words that i have emphasised.
